Jack Ryan, Jr.’s race to stop an international criminal conspiracy is intertwined with the fate of an old friend in this blistering entry in the number-one New York Times best-selling series.

The CIA’s deepest secrets are being given away for a larger agenda that will undermine the entire Western intelligence community. Director of National Intelligence Mary Pat Foley wants it stopped but doesn’t know who, how, or why.

Jack Ryan, Jr., is dispatched to Poland on a different mission. The clues are thin, and the sketchy trail dead ends in a harrowing fight from which he barely escapes with his life. If that’s not bad enough, Jack gets more tragic news. An old friend, who’s dying from cancer, has one final request for Jack. It seems simple enough, but before it’s done, Jack will find himself alone, his life hanging by a thread.

If he survives, he’ll be one step closer to finding the shadowy figure behind the CIA leak and its true purpose, but in the process, he’ll challenge the world’s most dangerous criminal syndicate with devastating consequences.

  • Action Espionage and Cybercrime...

Whew! Just finished this third contribution by Mike Maden to the Jack Ryan Campus series. Nonstop is an understatement!
The story begins with Jack Jr going to see a friend from college. The man is dying and asks for a favor that Jack feels compelled to agree to. But before he can leave he's called by his superior to go to Poland. Teaming up with local authorities they discover some information pointing to US and Chinese involvement in underhanded activities. But then tragedy happens leaving Jack to question his own abilities and putting him in a depression.
Jack heads down to Chile to complete his promise to his friend only to run into unexpected opposition there. An ex US Ranger/bar owner tries to convince Jack to give up his promise and head home. Every excuse is given including the mountain he's to climb with his friend's ashes is dangerous. The room he was staying in is broken into that night is broken into, everything he has with him is stolen (including his friend's ashes) and and he's knocked around. Still feeling a need to go now for himself, a beaten down exhausted Jack has climbed 3/4 up and soon finds out just how dangerous. The mountain is the least of it.
This book is Excellent and has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
Scott Brick as always does an OUTSTANDING job narrating.
